Think a fifth would be ideal, personally, but not essential. Matip and Gomez have injury riddled season, Lovren needs competition and Klaven is a back up. Secure a LB and attacking forward, then see.

I still see Gomez getting Games even if we get another cb, in my opinion he should be above Klaven and with the injury record of Matip and Lovren and the extra games in Europe he should get some action.

We still need a fifth CB and either Lucas or Can as an emergency 6th option. let's assume we're uncluttering the squad with Ilori etc.

It's not impossible to have Matip and Lovren injured at the same time. That leaves us with only 2 fit CBs playing if we don't get a fifth. No one to ease the burden of Scunthorpe on a Wednesday night etc, no one to sit on the bench even.

Having 5 CBs plus either a youngster coming up or someone who can "do a job" like Can and Lucas gives you options. Lucas did us proud but we shouldn't need him stepping in unless it's a league cup fixture.

To train and play the first will hopfully push him on to the next level.

The same applies to Ward, TTA, Woodburn, Ojo and Solanke.

When you see the above, there is half a team of high quality and potential already at the club.

Capitol one cup, fa cup will provide him a lot of chances to play, still need a cb at lovren and matips skill or better.
