Evening all, Eds just wondering do Liverpool have any interest in either inaki williams or Quincy promes?

{Ed002's Note - Yes there is interest in Iñaki Williams - Athletic Bilbao are aware of interest in Iñaki Williams following an approach by Galatasaray and scouts from Manchester City, Juventus, Valencia, Liverpool, Dortmund, Arsenal and Everton attending matches to watch him this season. They have made it clear that they do not wish to sell and have extended his contract - but they expect a bids from Dortmund, Juventus and (only if they cannot obtain another target) Manchester City in the summer - Liverpool may also look to an offer if Klopp plans to use him as a striker - but he is similar to and plays in a similar position to Mane so it may not be sensible.

But with Salah and Martins being linked, who both normally play RW, Iñaki Williams would seem like a great option.

{Ed002's Note - The great option would be Julian Brandt.}

Ed002 - I know that Julian Brandt was rumored to be looking for a move away from Leverkusen given inability to qualify for Europe. Liverpool seem to be looking at other options for now, but do you know if there are other teams interested in Brandt at this stage? Not seen a lot of press on him of late.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very keen and he was the first choice. The issue was that I guess he looked at the squad and thought how does he fit in. Hence the question - will I be starting? The massive advantage of Brandt is that he is a proper left winger with the ability to play across the forward line. The others are generally right winger with the ability to play across the forward line. He was the number one pick and he would bring more to Liverpool than the others being looked at. Both North London sides have shown an interest in him but right now neither is making any real effort. Bayern may look to him again as a Costa replacement.}

Liverpool's transfer policy is currently looking about as strong and stable as Theresa May at breakfast this morning 😂 He's our 1st pick, just sign him if he is willing to take the chance on being in the team. Just get permission to talk to him first please. If he's not, go and pay the transfers fee for our 2nd pick but we need to start acting in a more professional manner. Eds2, I know you wouldn't want the pay cut but can't you apply next time we need a top level job at the club,
Thanks 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Sadly I can't deal with the drop in money. I havce a wife who may well be ideal for the role.}

Lfc hopeful, I'm not sure we actually have a transfer policy other than to act like complete see you next Tuesdays and make a laughing stock out of ourselves. I am yet to be convinced that we will do any decent business this window because we have made such a balls up of the players that would take us to the next level.

Agreed FMS.
I posted (or not because it didn't make it on to this board) something similar. I made the point that why would a 'professional' footballer want to play for such an unprofessional club? Much damage needs to be repaired and (I hope I am wrong! ) I can see this Summer's transfer window being a let down and the season to come being one to forget. It would be great to get the defence sorted with some real top draw players to stop the needless loss of points. That alone will ensure we mount a decent challenge next season, but until we plug the leaks, it won't matter how many zillions we spend on attacking midfielders. Clean our act up as a club / lead by example, and the players will come.

So let me get this straight, Brandt doesn't believe he would get into Liverpools starting line up, but if Costa leaves Bayern he would be happy to go play there. aren't Bayern just a little bit better than us.

I think it will blow over.

Soton have spat their dummy out, we said sorry. If Soton are satisfied they haven't lost face in front of players, fans, and future signings then I suspect VVD could still go through, and maybe not at the inflated price.

All they risk doing is pissing off a player that wants a move, which from their perspective means they've now done it to two players. How would that be viewed by players thinking of moving to Soton?

As has been suggested, lots of players use Soton as a stepping stone, who would want to risk having their career bollocksed when it came time to move on? VVD decided to move when Fonte was being dicked around. What has all this done to the current squad?

Maybe Soton will hunker down and dig their heals in as they try to build a squad but it seems nonsensical to me. Look, I've no insight into these things, just applying layman's logic, I am maybe being completely naive.

dec, Bayern have Ribery and robben as first choice wingers. both are in their 30's and id be surprised if either was still there in 12 months - he will get opps in their system.
