We have to take the plunge sometime. Auba improves us ten fold.

If that was the only acquisition then all is good. Got gomez, juanma, karius, ojo/ wilson to all come in next year.

Grujic seconds year. Taa. Better than sending 15 mil on 3 players picking up 75k a week each.

My point is we don't need to buy a new lb because juanma should he ready to come within the first team group.

We don't need a rb or cb as taa and gomez are there.

Shouldnt need another winger with wilson and ojo. Nor a cm as grujic should be more settled by next year.

So if we had a budget of 50 mil we don't need to split it on a lot of players we could just spend it on one really really good player and if that happened to be auba then he would ve a brilliant aquition for us.

{Ed025's Note - you paint a very rosy picture of your youth set up supermane, the truth is that most of them are not good enough to step up at this time, TAA is about the best you have and though he shows a bit of promise is still very green, you will need to spend big in the summer if you are to compete and bring the kids in gradually over a period of time as you cant just throw them in and expect miracles ....your not everton you know mate.. :)

My point is this ed. Liverpool without selling probably (over estimating) have a budget for players at around 60 million.

Buying say 4 players for 15 million each is really why we have never trully improved, just buying similar quality or just above what we have.

Fans want a new gk, lb, cb, rb, cm, winger and possibly a striker.

You say we need to spend to compete. Are people blind. Pretty sure were only 4 points off 2nd and people are still counting city, united and tottenham in the title race and where within 4 of tottenham, 3 of city and ahead of united. Where competing and will squash spuds today.

We don't need wholesale changes at all in the summer. We need to make 1 or 2 top top top best of our transfer ability signings. Look at use lot your making one or two really good signings each window. within a couple of wins and results going your way you vould be in a champions league spot. didn't all the fans want everyone replacing with your 100mil. What was it williams, gueye and bolasie. Then morgan and lookman. Add a winger, gk, cb in the summer and just keep adding as the years roll on. Back to liverpool.

Out of all the positions we need to evaluate whos attainable for us and who will instantly make us better.

My argument was if auba was a possibility, which he probably isnt. If the transfer fee was 50 mil and his wages 200k a week and we only had a budget of 60 mil then we could smash it on him as the other positions are more well covered (key word covered. didn't say those players would be starting games) but.

Juanma can cover milner
Wilson/ ojo can cover phil and mane
Grujic can cover wij, hendo and can
Taa can cover clyne
Gomez can cover matip, lovren and klavan

Karius deserves a season and will be better for his experiences this year. Also got ward coming in.

So yes that's not madrid quality or le decima academy players but were well stocked all over.

Look how much one player in mane improved us and how much the ther cheapdr ones didnt. Instead of stock pilling average players, its one hundred percent better to buy one or two top top quality.

That whole formula applies all over the pitch btw.

If alderweireld was a possibility at 40/ 50 mil then buy him as everywhere else is and can be covered.

If we add another 5/ 6 players. it could set us back again.

Totteham lost bale 7 players didn't work
Liverpool lost suarez 7 players didn't work
Leicster lost kante 7 players didn't work

They would of all been better buying the very best they could to replace the one outgoing player.

Slow and steady wins the race or something like that.
