I wonder if this means that Can or Hendo will ultimately be replaced as starters?
I would guess Emre might be the one to give way for Carvalho- if he joins lfc.
Hopefully a pacy wide forward can also be brought in as a long term replcement for coutinho, who I still feel will probably leave in the summer.

If true, there's no doubt that it's for Can, he needs to sit on the bench for a few games and have a good long think.

Either that or its as a replacement for Lucas, in who they might have anticipated would stay until the end of the season.

There is no way that Liverpool would fork out £40 million to replace Lucas. For that money he would need to be starter and not a squad player.

If it IS his replacement, then I'm sure they're entitled to bring in a replacement early, instead of spending a quarter of the money as back-up on crap, but I'm not necessarily saying that it is.

Anyway, regardless, recent performances or not, if he's not prepared to risk moving Milner over to centre-mid, then he has to buy, January or not.

This is no time for kids the way the team are playing, and I think filling this position is a necessity in January, what with Can struggling, Henderson having a dodgy foot, Milner having to play out of position because we have no back-up, Lucas leaving etc etc, so we look very weak there, and opposition teams know that.
