Anyone interested in Can ed?

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

The jury is still out on him and his ability to perform at the required level to get into our first XI - it would be highly surprising if Juventus were keen unless they see him as a back-up option only? To be honest I could see him doing OK in Italy - would get more time on the ball, have a chance to get his head up and pick passes quicker - always seems too rushed when he plays for us and, consequently, gives away a significant amount of possession. Hopefully the lad improves for us though and becomes a mainstay - i'd much prefer him to do well at our club.

I personally think the opposite here. If anything he is too laid back on the ball which causes him to rush passes and make mistakes. Needs to sharpen up and move the ball quicker with less touches.

Yeah I'm with Xabi, i feel with the right coaching in terms of moving the ball quicker and getting his head up, we still have an excellent player on our hands, it's easy to forget he's still only 22. I assume we'll all agree his form last season was considerably better than this, so you'd think surely there is a lot of improvement still to come from him.

The jury is still on! Really Seano? He is in his what 3rd or 4th year pretty much at the same place. Stuck in between Henderson and Wijnaldum ( In reality there is no place ) . I wish we showed the same patience to Brannagan.

Yes, the amount of chances that he has got. if the same was given to Suso or someone else, who knows what they could have made of it.

He is a lucky guy.

He's a better player than Suso. I think he suffers from a similar problem Lallana did, he just takes far too many touches.

Harry, Can joined in summer 2014, so he's been here 2.5 years.

I hardly think he is stuck between Henderson and Wijnaldum as he has been for all of his time here, not least because Gini only joined 6 months ago.

During his 2.5 years he has been used as a CB, a RB and a midfielder or various guises.

I do agree with most that some players get more chances than others, but let's not forget that a) the manager sees the players in training much more than we do, and also that Klopp has been here just over a year. Suso, for example, departed until Rodgers.

So far, not much of what Klopp has done regarding player recruitment has been strange or unexpected, with the exception of Caluker, but at least that was only a half season loan.

Given that Can is only 22, I still have hope that the gaffer sees something in him. If he doesn't, well I'm sure he'll be found another home in time.

Lets stick to the facts, eh? Rather than make them up to suit a PoV?

Can is far better another position up the pitch. This allows him to step in with the ball and carry it which is what he is excellent at. This attracts opposition players and opens up space for others.

I don't think Can is that good up the pitch myself - yes he's good at surging into space but against an organised defence he's not mobile enough or quick enough on the ball yet, and he's also not a natural goal scorer.

That's not to say he can't get there but he's nowhere near a Llalana or Wijnaldum and I'd also rather see Coutinho drop into midfield, or a Grujic or Ejaria or even Brannagan play that role over Can right now.

That's not to say he'll never develop into a player there though as he's clearly talented, but there's some way to go yet based on previous games.

Neither is he yet comfortable as the sole deep lying playmaker role Hendo is fulfilling, but I do think he'd be good at the base of a 4-2-3-1 with a more mobile defensive partner (either Hendo or Stewart) who can cover him if necessary. I think he looks much more comfortable sitting a little deeper (ie having a bit more time on the ball) with someone alongside him to cover any runs he makes from deep.
