Being reported in Italy that lucas has had a medical and that the loan has an option to buy.

I think he's out of contract in May anyway, so there would be no need for an option to buy?

I reported this last week on the rumor page and no one believed it as usual. Klopp was asked about Lucas and he rrrspinded with no decision has been made YET. I expect the lad to move in January.

Not such a wise decision in my opinion. He's a good squad player and a player we will most likely need in the run in that we have next month. All sorts of games in every competition so he would play a valuable part of that but we are loaning him out? The timing really baffles me, should have just let him go in the summer then.

James Pearce is usually reliable and tweeted Lucas contract actually runs until the summer of 2018, not this upcoming summer.

It's clear that he's unable to push for a place in our midfield with Henderson and Stewart apparently preferred by Klopp in that position. It could be a sign that Joe Gomez is nearing a return if Klopp is prepared to let Lucas go in January, and that's good news to me.

It will be a sad day when he goes but I think it's probably the best for both parties if he moves on so he can play more regularly and Liverpool can start playing our youngsters in this role, and with Henderson asserting himself as captain, Milner and Matip I say we have enough leaders in the dressing room at this moment in time.

What do you think Ed001?

It is nothing to do with other players and everything to do with his attitude and prior service. It is felt he deserves the opportunity to play regularly if he wants to go. While he does not really want to leave Liverpool, he does want regular first team football.

Whichever way he decides is fine by me, I am in full agreement that he has earnt the right to do what is best for him.

Great fella but average footballer. Be sad to see him go for his influence in the dressing room rather than his play on the pitch. Good luck to him I really hope it works out.

{Ed001's Note - that is why he should go, ungrateful people like you can't even just wish him well without a dig.}

My point of view is to let him leave for his career. Love the guy and how he came through the tough times the fans gave him. Let him thrive in Italy and good luck to him

Crooky.

I would love it if he just saw out the season with us - guys like him are priceless when it comes to a tilt at the title and IF we were to win it, he would be hugely deserving of a winners medal for his commitment and attitude in the face of those who felt he wasn't fit to wear the shirt. Lucas, as far as I am concerned, is a Liverpool player through and through and I would be sorry to see him go.

Good luck to the lad in all his future endeavours. With his his contract running out at the end of June he deserves it. In many respects he has been the perfect professional, playing whenever and wherever he has been needed. Many could learn a thing or two from his selfless attitude. Were he to stay with us he would have increasingly limited chances in both midfield and defence AND he really should be playing weekly somewhere. I'll probably watch whatever football he plays when I get a chance wherever he goes because he has been faultless in his support of us and the club we adore. He deserves ouyr support.

Great servant for the club, for me before his bad injury a few seasons ago against chelsea he was one of our best players in my opinion and felt he would succeed gerrard as captain some day, alas it didn't happen. But a great player for us over 10 years, he had a tough start to life at anfield but changed his game and became a real talented player. If im not mistaken he is the last surviving player from rafa's reign. Hope he does what is best for him. Would love to see him stay until the end of the season but if he does go ill be happy for him. YNWA Lucas Leiva.

Spot on Ed001. He has earned the right to choose and has been a great servant. I suspect that it is the right time, both for him to keep playing and for LFC to open up room for Gomez and possibly Stewart.
Also agree that he's been way better than average as a player.

Still remember the moment Lucas broke Yaya Toure in 2011. Toure was on a high from the previous season and set off on one of his trademark dribbles and Lucas just stepped across him, eased him out of it, and set off in the other direction with the ball.

Toure went on to have a fairly indifferent season. Coincidence? I think not. He was probably haunted by the image of a Brazilian midfielder half his size outmuscling him for the rest of the season. (This is slightly tongue in cheek, btw)

Personally I'd be looking to keep Lucas if I were in charge because whilst Hendo hasn't let us down in that position, he has a bit of room to improve defensively and Can's not really got the head for the "pivot" position in our midfield. So I'd like to see us have the option of Lucas' experience to call on, especially when we're in Europe next season. But as Ed001 says, he's earned the right to choose to play regular football if he wants and needs to.
