Ed001. i'm sorry mate but I can't leave the left back situation lol.

Pearce gas said were not in for Hector as his fee is too high yet Dom King and a few others have said we are after him.

Is he on the "possible" list or not?

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of. I am beginning to fear we won't get the left back this summer.}

Owe mate please don't say that 😂

Surely we are still at least trying to get one in?

2.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 09:43:06
Will be ridiculous if we don't get a LB. That and goalkeeper were the two positions we needed to most improve. I am happy with the other signings but fill the positions we need filling first!

Absolute farce of a club. Won't pay the money required to get a top target in a priority position in so we're stuck for another season with crap.
Still haven't rid the club of numerous players who should have either never been bought in the first place or should have been rid of long ago.
It's taken me 32 years but I'm sick to death of this club. It's so poorly run it angers me beyond belief.

4.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 10:31:32
It isn't ridiculous at all.
We haven't got the allure of european football, never mind CL.

We have an inflated squad and lose money on a daily basis.

If players we can get aren't an upgrade on the current model - we stick with what we have.

5.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 10:46:53
True Aggerdo, but are you saying across all Europe and beyond not one LB that is better then Moreno or makeshift Milner. And of that list of hundreds no one wants to play under Klopp cause we're not in Europe for maybe a season?

6.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 11:40:48
Could have had chilwell but price was the issue, our club decided to spend the money (and then some) on wiji instead. I understand chilwell was expensive but he was needed, the price of not getting a left back will be more than splashing the extra million or 2.
I still think someone will come in, probably a rushed and overpriced buy but that's the price you pay when you mess about with transfers like we do.

Max
No- but perhaps those available aren't an upgrade- that's all.

Remember before Moreno signed? There was lots of coverage on how good he was, he was the hot prospect LB. He was probably behind Alba, Alaba, Marcelo, potentially Rodriguez as the European based left back to sign.

He may get better with a bit more wok from JK- who knows?

My rationale is that we seem to name a player and automatically think he's going to jump at chance to sign.

We have to manage our finances and squad size. Realistically, I Think top-quality left backs are a rare breed as the obsession is with them overlapping and providing an attacking threat.

That means there is a real premium on those who can do it all.

Could we all please have a good look around on the floor and see if we can locate Irishkopites toys as they are missing from his pram.

Haha . very true. Irishkopite just look on the bright side . you're a Liverpool fan and have rumours to read about . you could be an Arsenal fan with nothing but a blank page to read! :-D1.

AggerDo, you are severely misinformed. Ed has said repeatedly that Chilwell came highly recommended by his coach David Wagner (Klopp`s best man at his wedding or the other way around) and coach of Huddersfield last season where Chilwell was out on loan. All the scouts at LC said he is the real deal. He just couldn`t get in ahead of Fuchs who was monstrous last season, which is understandable. LC wanted 10m for him. If that is expensive for a promising English left back then we need to get out of transfer business totally as that is total nonsense. You say we have no money nor CL but have had no issues paying stupid money for poor or average players like Balo, Benteke, Moreno, Lallana (average) and the list goes on. Stop sugar coating things. The Chilwell cock up had nothing to do with price, or lack of CL or my dog. Per Ed, Chilwell never asked for CL football and was willing to come but AS USUAL, we messed about, penny pinching over a paltry 2m (we offered 8m) and the deal was off YET we had no issues forking out a huge 25m for GW, a player many like myself believe is not needed. How do you explain that thought process? It is rank incompetence, end off. Chilwell did not reject us, we rejected him. Now we potentially, go into a season with NO left back worthy of the name as Milner and definitely Moreno are not defenders. Prolly end up paying stupid money again for a panic buy.

{Ed001's Note - Chilwell was very keen to join us.}

Cincyred

How is my post severely misinformed?

I haven't mentioned chip well or our unsuccessful pursuit of him anywhere, or contradicted the. ed.

You say we have have splashed cash on other mediocre players, we have, and hopefully have learned lessons since.

Perhaps before blasting other posters, an ability to read may prove useful?

It's very irrational to think there isn't one LB we could get that is better that Moreno. Would of preferred Brad Smith.

Personally I think we couldn't find a buyer for Moreno but I would of thought we could do with what we seem to do with attacking midfielders just to buy someone anyways and move the not wanted one out next year. If he has a great turn around and ends up good then we keep him or sell him for more.

As it stands we just have a obvious problem in our defence for opponents to exploit.

Anyways just under four weeks left hopefully something will happen.

15.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 14:21:02
Ed, was the deal dead in the water? Seems strange that if chilwell was that keen why did he sign a new deal when the window has several weeks to run. We all now deals can often get resurrected. Perhaps some guarantees of first team football at Leicester?

{Ed001's Note - the deal was dead. We refused to up our bid.}

16.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 14:23:45
What's all this Chillwell hype about, people making out he's the best thing since sliced bread, I'm glad he stayed at Leicester, it's the safe move for him, he's not even come close to proving himself yet. He played around 5 games last year. It's obvious klopp wants a left back and if you ask me we will get Hector. Time to stop stressing and make our voices heard for the first game, season is starting we should be jubilant! **** Chillwell.

{Ed001's Note - this is the kind of pointless post that just annoys me and shows ignorance.}

I can only hope that Klopp has seen something in Gomez in the limited time he has been able to see him train. He did look really solid in a defence that wasn't at the start of last season. He was starting in front of Moreno at that point. He's not a long term solution at left back and will almost definitely spend most of his career at centre back. He could though be a short term solution until Klopp can get a player he really wants, either in January or next Summer. Also can't Klavan play there? If we are keeping Sakho it makes sense to push Klavan to left back? Surely better options at least defensively than Moreno. I'd much rather be patient and get the right player in than panic buy someone who doesn't fit the system or style of play. Also I love our chances this year with all the change elsewhere and a few exciting new signings as well as the essential one in goal, hopefully Karius will be back fit fairly soon.

03 Aug 2016 14:46:27
@Annie you gave me a chuckle there I must admit, credit where it's due. It doesn't take away from the fact the club is dreadful at handling transfers - both in and out of the club, and has been for many years. Having a top manager like Klopp feels like we're papering over these fundamental cracks.

19.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 15:07:45
Our biggest problems last year were Mignolet, Moreno and a lack of bite in midfield, we have only addressed the goalkeeper issue, but given that he is out injured we're back to square one with the clown prince of keeping. Teams are still going to exploit Moreno's brainlessness, bully us in midfield and put balls into the box knowing that Mignolet will make an error.

20.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 16:09:15
Mr Dennis, I wish that your post was a bad one, but your spot on, right on the button, we will get found out in the early games for sure . then kinda sort it, but by then we will be playing catch up, just hope our new goalie comes back better than ever, and that one of the squad claims the Left Back position, maybe Gomez or Klavan, who I rate highly, just wish he would have got some minutes there in a pre-season game .

21.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 17:34:09
Why don't we buy Fuchs from Leicester so that we get chance to see if Chilwell is any good or not ;-) . He's even played for Klopp's old team Mainz! ;-)

22.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 17:45:37
Klopp could yet play 3 at the back and not bodar with a LB at all. IMO when gomez played there under BR he looked good so yeh we prob ****ed up wuth Chilwell but there's a month to go yet in the transfer market.

23.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 18:40:33
The whole situation with LB is a shocker, quite frankly.

Probably the one position that we most needed to address, other than keeper, so what is the sum total of our efforts three months after the season ended and eleven days before our first game?

Ask Milner to play at LB.

Good grief.

24.) 03 Aug 2016
03 Aug 2016 20:01:22
It's incredible to think that a manager of Klopp's ability has failed to secure a suitable left back prior to the acquisition of Wijnaldum and the sale of Brad Smith, Wijnaldum will add goals but the team seems completely imbalanced, this newly assembled team maybe a mirror image of Brendan Rodgers side which needed to constantly outscore the opposition to win games due to defensive frailties, playing Milner out of position at LB as cover for Moreno is something Rodgers would do to drive fans insane!

Ed 1 just had a lad in my hotel from Liverpool and he seemed to no a little info regarding Chilwell that he didn't join us because he wasn't being guaranteed a place straight away? .

{Ed001's Note - rubbish. He didn't join purely because we couldn't agree a fee with Leicester.}
