Interesting - where did you get the buy back info from? That doesn't match what I have seen.
Liverpool will receive £3 million now and £7 million over 5 years. The rest is made up of clauses, including a fee if Ibe plays for England. And yes, there is a sell on clause.

Liverpool also have to negotiate a sell on fee to pay Wycombe.

So the reported £15m is well off according to your source fatdave?

I don't think you can pay over five years anymore I think its three.

@fatdave the money is never paid up front in one sum. It is usually already over a number of years. I think you're probably right about some being tied up in performance related fees too.

Not sure about sell on / buy back clauses though.

SO 15m is the max depending on what Ibe does and 10m is the minimum? Still not a bad deal at all for both.

{Ed001's Note - just to point out, there is no negotiation on what to pay Wycombe, they receive 5% of the fee. Each time we receive a payment, they get 5% of it.}

Considering the age he joined us I'm surprised the sell on level was just 5%. Guess between 500 and 750K isn't bad if you're in Wycombe's current position.

{Ed001's Note - it is standard fee for the club who developed the player through their academy to get 5% of the fee.}

Just to clarify: there is some negotiation with Wycombe because Wycombe asked LFC to confirm the details of the transfer fee. Do Wycombe receive 5% of the whole fee or part of the fee ie are the clauses exempt.

{Ed001's Note - there is no negotiation, LFC have to give 5% of every payment, including clauses. It is a standard set fee to the clubs who develop players. If there had been 3 or 4 clubs, they would have split the 5% between them depending on the length of time the player had been there.}

Imo it should be 5% development fee at his value when he made his prem debut. After that we developed him into a regular prem level player, international call up level, etc.

Wycombe only took him so far, we did the rest. Some might disagree, but put it this way. He signed at 17, made debut at 18 and then say he played with us for ten years and turned into Bales level. Sold at 27 for £50m. Why would Wycombe be entitled to a 5% fee? Cause they coached him 15 years ago when he was 12 for a couple of years. Seems his development from potential to top class would be our doing. Just as his development from potential to regular premiership level is our coaching.

If after his first game he was worth £2m then it should be 5% of that, the next level to be worth £15m was our coaching, not Wycombes input, diet specialist or facilities.

{Ed001's Note - look the rules are the rules, it is to protect the interests of clubs like Wycombe, who invest in their youth system. They should get the money because without them football would be on its arse. This kind of post really annoys me, it is arrogant and disrespectful to the clubs that actually did the hard work of initial development. Sad how people forget what matters in the modern world. Wycombe deserve every single penny they get.}

Wycombe deserve every penny and I hope we don't dick them around.
