Liverpool may turn their attention to Andy Robinson at Hull City if they are unsuccessful with Chilwell.

If Chillwell is the clubs n more importantley Klopps number one choice to improve a weak point in our team then just get the bleedin deal done.
Stop arsin around over £3 Mill. He will be signed on a 4/ 5 year contract so the extra money is insignificant over such a period if he is of the calibre to be believed.
We haggled over Bale with Southampton over £2 Mill add ons. Do we never learn.

Natural, that name is banned here. If you wish to refer to him in future, just use PaKo.

It's Andy Robertson, not Robinson. And I don't think Chilwell is Klopp's "first choice". Doubt he even had a clue who the kid is until the "transfer committee" raised him as a potential target. Same with Robertson.

Seems to me Klopp has left signing a LB to the committee and these are committee targets. This might be for one or more reasons.

Maybe Klopp's own preferred LB targets like Hector and Guerreiro were deemed too expensive (former) or went elsewhere (latter) . In the alternative, it might be that Klopp still prefers Moreno as a first choice LB. and he simply asked the committee to find a better backup; Chilwell seemed like a cheap, young option with some upside. Now it seems, not so cheap.

{Ed002's Note - I explained about the interest in Chilwell months ag and there is also interest in Amavi - the bid for Chilwell came with the knowledge of Klopp - if you want to bitch and complain then you need to stop blaming the Transfer Committee and look very firmly at Klopp.}

I have no doubt the bid went with Klopp's knowledge. I just highly doubt the kid was on his radar until he was raised as a target by LFC scouts.

{Ed002's Note - I think you will find that is the purpose of scouts - and if they have done their job well, Klopp, his staff think it is OK, it has been discussed with the Transfer Committee, then a bid will be made. Oh wait ....}

Not disagreeing with any of that.

I just taking issue with sentiment further up the thread implying that Chilwell is some kind of handpicked Klopp target; like Chilwell was on his personal target list when he arrived a LFC. He's a target pitched to Klopp by scouts and he agreed to the pursuit. This is to distinguish from, say, Benteke, who Rodgers reportedly personally strongly pursued last summer, despite opposition by the Committee.

And I've also been critical of Klopp on here. I think, for example, he made a big mistake in January in veto'ing the Teixeira signing (he admitted it himself) . Teixeira, who scored more goals at Donetsk than Willian and Costa, at 38m doesn't seem so bad when we end up paying for Mane at 30-40M. Teixeira would have also helped us in the league and in Europa. If LFC were willing to pay up and he said "no", thinking he could persuade Dembele and Gotze to come for cheaper, that's on him. And now we'll likely pay a comparable amount for a fourth choice winger option in Mane (after Dembele/ Gotze/ Teixeira) .

{Ed002's Note - I dealt with all of the Teixeira stuff at the time and explained how the price would go up and up - it was not going to happen. The club has targets which they have been watching and they will have a subset of those that there is a collective agreement on pursuing further - talking to agents, clubs and perhaps making an offer. If the players are not ones that Klopp has an interest in then they won't get to that stage. If the players are ones that the club is unable to afford in terms of transfer fee or wages, it will not get to that stage.}

Wow, are we really talking about demanding the club pays £10m for a lad who has never played a game in the PL? How manyvof those clamouring for this deal have ever seen him play?

Bonkers, truly bonkers, go and spend it on a proven international quality player would be my advice. The world has gone mad if we do pay that much.

Kloppo knows him because his mate is the boss at Huddersfield and had the lad on loan and it was he who brought him to Jurgen's attention.

Actually it has also been widely reported that the manager of the club that chilwell was on loan to is a friend of klopps and he recommended the lad.
