Good morning Eds

Youve said that we must not rule out Goetze just yet as it might still happen. Are you able to say if how things were with the deal as its been said wages etc had been agreed before he had a change of heart. Had we actually made any contact?

{Ed001's Note - it is not like that, Bayern want him out, but he wants a sweetener to leave.}

A financial sweetener? From them? As well as his signing on fee? This kid really sounds like he has an attitude problem. It's concerning.

Ed001, a sweetener from us or bayern?

{Ed001's Note - Bayern, it is standard practice to get something in return for leaving early when you don't actually want to and could hang on for a huge payday the following summer.}

Not sure about this transfer myself. Not wanting to get on a player's back before he hasn't even joined (etc etc), but I'm not convinced we need him: position, injury record and questionable attitude. Seems like another cut-price/ high wage gamble.

Might need some humble pie somewhere along the line, and I'll try to see the silver (ware) lining if it happens, but won't be that disappointed if it doesn't.

A desire to earn money, especially to earn money that you know you can get with a bit of patience anyway, does not equal an attitude problem. Not commenting on what his attitude is because I don't know but he wants to earn from his job.

It's not just that, it's the latest of a list of reported things that might, or might not, have happened. Not least, the way he left Dortmund (& Klopp) when things were going well, for Bayern - think of something similar happening here between rivals.

Add to this the indication that Bayern appear quite happy to let him go at a loss, and whereas walking off in a sulk rather than celebrating with teammates, might be down to any number of things, I think it fair to say, we've had our fingers burned in recent seasons.

Should move on to other targets. Not sure Y is klopp all
Behind him.

Ok then so you lot don't trust Jurgen?

Jurgen knows him better than anyone, I have to say the noises concern me but it's not as if he is an unknown entity and I'm sure it'll be diligenced with a frank conversation before anything is finalised. Jurgen doesn't seem the type to want a Prima Donna in the room that might upset the team spirit or work ethic.

On the flip side one might also argue if he does move he'll be hungrier than even to prove himself and get Liverpool into CL.

@ Raised Eyebrow:

The rivalry thing isn't an issue. Bayern M is an institution in German football.
Every German kid that grow up dream about playing there, no matter where in Germany they grow up!

They don't keep the same standards of rivalry between the clubs as English or Italian clubs do.

{Ed001's Note - so not true, most Germans hate Bayern. They either support them or hate them.}

Was there any problems with him while under Klopp at Dortmund? I know about him leaving but bayern snap up all the talent in Germany so that's not a suprise.
If Klopp wants to sign him then I will trust his judgement as he knows him well.
The fact he didn't get on with pep and the fact it hasn't exactly worked out for him at bayern isn't a massive issue for me, nor the fact he is after a golden handshake because he's a football player and that's what they all do.
If he does the business on the pitch for us and keeps his gob shut off it then I will be happy to have him at Liverpool until the day he (inevitably) moves.

Are you just making that crap up off the top of your head, Dan?
Bayern are Bavaria and as Ed says most German fans hate them. Especially Dortmund fans.
It's almost like saying every Spanish kid dreams of playing for Barca.
No rivalries? But what about the Ruhr derby?
Also, I'm guessing you've never been to Hamburg?

Dan - like Cech, as goalkeeper of the defending Champions, choosing to go to their London rivals? Or Ashley Cole going the other way? Sol Campbell? Not directly over but Paul Ince and Michael Owen? A lot of players end up playing for their rivals.

And trust mate, the Germans go in for rivalries in a big way. Like I said I'm not arguing on his attitude because I don't know, but I can't see wanting to get the standard payoff for leaving a big club early that ideally you wouldn't have to leave as any sign of a bad attitude. In fact, considering Bayern tempted him over when they didn't really need him and in retrospect seemingly more to deny him from Dortmund than anything else, I'd probably want my payoff too!

But I do agree that unless Coutinho goes, we don't really need him and have more pressing concerns.

Just how much money do these overpaid footballers want?
Obviously, a lot more than they need!

we would take it if we were offered it LL, sadly the wages in football have got out of control at the top end of the game and will continue to do so, I only wish I was offered what there on to do my job I could retire in a year, that's the difference between us and them.
