Evening eds - I just wondered if all this media talk of a possible take-over just hot air. I did do a search but there was no conclusive answers. I know one of the eds said a season or so ago that they thought a take-over may be on the cards around this season as the big TV money was coming in. Is this talk of what the eds suspected or just hot air? I appreciate it may be hard to find anything out for sure. I would rather hear news from yourselves rather than media tosh. Thanks in advance for any news.

{Ed001's Note - it is difficult to be 100% sure but, in this case, it is pretty much 100% no right now. The Dubai ruling family are interested in owning us but are not keen on competing against their own family who own City.}

Would Liverpool and FSG consider a China ownership? Or is it too taboo for Liverpool to be Chinese owned? ;

{Ed001's Note - why would it be taboo?}

Thanks eds that makes sense. I just thought myself that maybe they had decided to act now with the TV money due and the fact that we have improved and if we continue to improve, maybe scrape top four next season or win Europa and get CL this season, then how much would our value go up? Big ifs I know but doable. Would cost and value become more important than doubts or misgivings?! I'm not sure I'd be particularly happy anyway as it could well unsettle the club again. Could buying into the club be an option rather than buying us outright?

{Ed001's Note - it is not about the money, they have more than they know what to do with. It is about raising the UAE's profile abroad. The Sheikhs are brothers and the Abu Dhabi one had to bail out the Dubai one during the recession, so there is no way he is going to go against him.}

i don't understand him wanting to buy us if he doesn't want to compete with his brother, there's no point in him being interested then unless they sell city but that's nogoing to happen.

{Ed001's Note - you are obviously missing the point.}

which in your opinion is the most likely, chinese or arab ownership.

{Ed001's Note - clearly Chinese is more likely.}

i obviously am missing the point, it's like wanting something you can never have or wanting something you can never afford, do you think it will happen in the near future i. e next year or two.

But do either of them like the flintstones?
I bet the ones from Abu Dhabi do! I'll get my coat.

grajac, I think the jist of is that, ceteris paribus, Khalifa would make a bid for Liverpool in a heartbeat, but his family's control of City Group makes things much more complicated.

I don't understand why would our supporters want the club to be sold?
FSG brought stability and bailed the club out when we were almost bankrupt. They have invested heavily in the transfer market and opted for staying @ Anfield and building a new stand. Why would we want to be sold to some spoilt prince who doesn't know what to do with his new toys after getting bored with them in a month's time? Or being sold to some Chinese group that heavily rely on their leveraged businesses? Do we want our club to be sold piece by piece when the debt collectors come calling?

Solar I haven't seen one fan say he wants a take over. It's just that one of the eds has long suspected fsg would sell around the time the next big TV money is due, around now. Then these rumours occur. FSG am sure are in it for a profit on resale so I don't think it will be far off.

Just to be clear. Abu Dhabi (Nahyan) and Dubai (Maktoum) ruling families are different (same tribe) . Respective rulers are not brothers.
Each 7 Emirates is ruled by a different family. Federally they are governed by UAE govt. President is the Abu Dhabi ruler, wice president is Dubai ruler.

Abu Dhabi have all the money (oil) . Dubai are far more diversified and selling Dubai to the world as a tourist destination (Emirates airlines etc) . Abu Dhabi is starting to do this more now with younger generation getting closer to ruling succession.
