Maybe they've finally realised he couldn't even sell water to fireman.

Total lack of respect shown there, Jimble. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if people assassinated your character without having ever spoken to you or worked with you.

How about everyone shows a little more class on this site eh.

Wasn't a character assassination, it was more a tongue n cheek poke at his lack of ability in the transfer. He's hardly been a top negotiator and I'm sure I'm not alone in that belief.

He's certainly done a lot to improve the commercial side of the business so deserves some credit there.

Also be interesting to know how many failed transfers he's actually been involved in really and not just the rumours we get on here - we may have dodged a bullet on many of those.

He negotiates with what he's told he is able to with funding and also within the parameters set out for our targets.

Paying our value is key. Not letting people take us for a ride and yes lallana aside there isn't many we have been upped and upped for we tend to ha e chosen our fees payed, as showed by firmino.

Think were losing a good member of the club myself and hope hw changes his mind back sometime in the yeet.

Bound to be failed transfer dealings. But then look at it the other way. Overpaid at the time for Firmino (he's come good) over paid for Benteke and Balotelli.
Going back, Downing and Carroll.
Got £50m for Torres and £75m for Suarez.
Even its self out i'd say.

Who was at fault for not securing Deli Ali? Was it Mr Ayre? As for the over payment of many players, he will be held to account.

People need to keep quiet and stop talking about what they know nothing about. IA doesn't do anything without people over him telling him what to do. There is a price he is told not to go above when negotiating transfers as he is not the one writing the checks, FSG does. Also, all the money spent under KK/ Comolli era were all ratified by Comolli and no one else, as Ed has said repeatedly so those beating up on IA should be ashamed of themselves. Nobody knows why Delle Alli wasn't signed and frankly, I don't care. IA gave a decade of his life for his boyhood club and has improved the revenue on the Commercial side so at least, give him some credit for working hard for our progress instead of slating him for not getting your favorite player who may or may not have worked out.

Jimble is right. we have seen enuff of ian ayre incompetencies in negotiations e. g. over priced firmino, in ability to secure texeira.

{Ed001's Note - how is Teixeira his fault? That was an owner who gave a price the club refused to match. No big deal. Firmino's price, again, was out of his hands, and how anyone can still think he was overpriced when he plays as well as he does, well it just shows they aren't watching us play.}

Wishing Ayre all the best wherever he goes. In amongst it all he has been a part of rebuilding this club. Good on ya mate.

Behave Suffolk red.

We embrace Ian Ayre as a scouser and a red who's a red through and through, but only he can be held to account for some of the disaster transfers.

I wish him the best of luck and hope to see him at the ground as a fan only.

The right person can do wonders for our club, but the owners must choose wisely, although I suspect it won't necessarily be a 'football' man/ woman.

how about when we underpay for players? Coutinho? Can maybe? Suarez? we probably did not over pay for Origi or Studge (despite his injuries) Gomez?

Gotta give the guy credit for finding value if you give him the blame for pay over the odds for some.
