Dunno if it's already been posted but i thought I'd relay Bruce Grobelaars comments from his radio interview yesterday regarding Mignolet. These aren't exact quotes but it is more or less what he said.

He was asked for his opinion on whether Mignolet was a weak link and his answer couldn't have been more clear. He said that Mignolet wasn't good enough with his feet and wasn't good enough at commanding his area. He recognised the fact that Mingolet is a good shot stopper but then went on to reitterate that that's not enough to justify him keeping his place in our team. He even went as far to say that a 24 year old keeper he is couching at his club in Canada is not only just as good at shot stopping as Mingolet, but also does everything else much better. His opinion was scathing, but impossible to argue against.

He then rather interestingly said that Klopp is looking at a few keepers in the Bundesliga and that it wouldn't at all suprise him if Klopps first signing was a keeper.

I'm not sure how in the know he is so take his transfer info with a pinch of salt. But one thing is for sure, his analysis of Mignolet is yet further evidence that Mignolet is a weak link and that coaches within the game can see this. Weak links can be used by opoosition coaches to get results. So I have to agree with Bruce; Mignolet needs replacing irrespective of whether or not he is a good shot stopper.

Also it was good to hear that Bruce is linking up with Paul Dalglish at his Canadian club. I wish them both luck and I hope we put on a show against Swansea for Grobelaar as i doubt he gets to many games nowadays living in Newfoundland, Canada!

Grobelaar can take a running jump as far as I'm concerned. Fixing matches is entirely self serving, and not that of a stand up person. Any one that does that does NOT care for their team.

We all knew at the time Migs wasn't great with his feet during his signing. We've also known that LFC have looked at keepers. I doubt very much BG knows any inside info, that just isn't in the public domain already or common sense. With regards to the player he's coaching. I imagine he's probably just trying to get him signed up and promote him. If he's that good, he'd be in Europe already.

probably just wants a nice Brucey bonus if a club comes in for the kid, or just to enhance his reputation.

To be fair ed001 has said the club rated migs technical ability before we signed him.

If I am lying on your behalf ed please let me know. If I'm wrong I must of imagined it haha.

{Ed001's Note - you did imagine it, I have never said any such thing.}

Fixing matches? Enlighten me please Bob. I've not heard this! I thought Grobs was a club legend. He was before my time but my dad loves him.

{Ed002's Note - Try Googling it - this post already appears more than once on the site and the posts are getting to the point where it will get deleted soon.}

Groblaar was and never will be a legend.

I think what he was accused of, whilst never proven was still certainly suspect, has tainted his memory but personally I remember him for more positive things and I can't think of him without also thinking about Dudek and the rubber leg thing.

I think his comments towards Mignolet, whilst not wrong, are a bit harsh coming from a former player and I would have thought he should be reaching out to him behind closed doors to offer support and advice - even on an informal basis.

I know that's probably naive, but it's not great when a legend calls out one of the current players. Migs, despite his shortcomings I think does put in the graft - he appears to have inherent weaknesses that may or may not be overcome by training but it's still unfortunate to hear BG's very public criticism - which sounds like a repeat of what he said last year some time.

Whilst Bruce was wrong to criticize on national radio, to suggest he is not a legend of the club is rediculous.
He won the league championship on numerous occasions, European cup, fa cup and league cup.
Regarding the allegations thrown at him I had the privelage some years ago of playing football alongside one of my heroes from that era, when I asked about BG and the rumours he told me that whilst he was eccentric he took his job very serious, was a winner and explained " if Brucie was throwing games for us and we still won everything, just how good were we".
Neither he or any of his former teammates he had discussions with thought that BG was anything other than fully committed to LFC.

Getting information about someone based on false tabloid reports really only make you look stupid. The comments were as ridiculous as the ones the S*n Printed about the 96 who died. I remember Bruce sitting in my office devastated and upset about being unable to get back in the team after illness. Kenny was very stubborn and having none of it, the rest of the team were arguing with Kenny as well. Anyway during all this he was saying how loyal he had been to to club and how he had been approached with these stupid offers to throw games but never did any such thing, he loyalty was always with the club. (This by the way was before the reports came out so he had no reason to discuss such matters with me and was not trying to defend anything that had been said. because at that point nothing had been said. ) Bruce obviously has contacts in the club, but he only talks as a Liverpool fan which he very much still is. He does not think Mignolet is good enough for Liverpool and that is his opinion. A lot of people on here are of the same opinion but no one attacks their character. Leave him alone he is a lovely guy.

Grobelaar's claims there's a world class keeper playing in Canada?

Probably referring to John Smith, the Canadian legend free agent keeper, from FIFA 12 career mode. But he's far too old for LFC by now (he's 31, not 24).
