Hi guys I said a while back they joe Gomez from charlton was looked at he also turned down arsenal, he's all set to join Liverpool soon, unless charlton pull the plug, spoken to him he's very exited.

Great yeah. Nothing against the kid, but we're watching top players go elsewhere and all we're doing is picking up cheapo frees and young kids. It'd be nice to show a bit of ambition once in a while.

He's a fine young player, the signing of whom doesn't reflect any lack of ambition. The question is whether he'll get a game or be left to stagnate and twiddle his toes like Ilori and others.

A fine young player? Tell me how many times have you watched Charlton Athletic this season? There's every chance that he could be a good player in the future, but right now none of us knows for certain. The worry I have is that we have so many defenders on our books, young and old, and I cannot see anything other than another Ilori panning out.
