Macca, do you think the fact that like 90% of Liverpool fans want him out might have any influence at all?

I'm surprised it's taken this long?

Thanks for the info Macca.

Likewise, everything I've heard is 50/50. Ultimately FSG are the only one's who know. We thought Dalglish was safe, and we know what happened then.

Personally I can't see FSG keeping Rodgers.

That's just sitting on the fence Macca 😉

Interesting insight as always Macca. I think it must be time to have a manager who is both current and with a recent winning history.
3yrs at a club with good quality international squad, large funds, time etc should have had a trophy.

The way Dalglish was ruthlessly treated after getting the club out the relegation spots in season one to winning a trophy in yr 2 and another cup final while having to deal with all the Suarez carry on was incredible.

Appreciate reason was because of how he backed Suarez but the replacement in Rogers didn't justify the swift dismissal and the leniency shown towards Rogers is incredible considering the players he's had and resources and cash at his disposal.

Will be stunned and disappointed if he is still there next season and Klopp is not in charge.

Thought we were a BIG club .

"The" trophy is the one that really counts and we have not won that for well over 20 years. The problem is not management as we have had some good managers in that period (and indeed have a good one now) and none have delivered in the short period of time that we keep affording them. No matter how much we don't like to here this - we don't have the same funds as others we now consider our biggest rivals (they would question if we are theirs), and when not in the CL another draw to the club goes away. Fortunately our heritage and our name and our respect counts for a lot. But we do have to afford good managers more time - that goes for some past and for the present incumbent too imo!

I really hope he's gone - don't think i can take another season of rodgers.

I guess it's a business only for FSG. Yeah maybe Red Sox is genuine love and sports in general, but they're not die hards fans. It's business. It looks bad on Any top company to have a constant turnover of CEO's for example. The club manager in public eye is similar, so a fourth in 6 yrs looks bad. Could be a reason?

10.) 22 May 2015
22 May 2015 19:20:16
Yes and then another has to get to know the club, won't deliver in a short time, and you and a mountain of others that don't really understand the power of gelling a team, will want that one out! I am so so thankful that clubs were not as unreasonably ruthless in the 60s 70s! They listen to fans too much nowadays - the only noise we should be making is support on the terraces!!!!!

I bloody hope he goes, he's such a poor manager

Rodgers out seems to be the hot topic at the moment. My own personal opinion is that he is in over his head and just not capable of the job. The problem is its not just him is it.The rest of the management structure and decision making process at the club is making us a joke. Signing Ballotelli should be costing the job of whoever made the decision to spend £16 million on him. He was always going to fail and yet again we face a massive loss on a player to add to the massive list

14.) 22 May 2015
22 May 2015 23:27:04
BR oversaw that signing yet did nothing to stop it and keeps saying it or anything in fact, is ever his fault. BR is the one who made the purchase and should be sacked as you say, benthe

15.) 22 May 2015
22 May 2015 23:30:13
The buck stops with the manager and he oversaw the signing of Balo hence, should be sacked, as you say Benthey

16.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 00:37:16
The fact that BR is not flying to Boston on Monday strongly suggests that his job is safe.

23 May 2015 00:59:10
The arrogance of the man is simply astounding, excuses left right and centre. He's off and not before time. See the comments he's made in the press tonight.

18.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 01:45:49
Nearly wins league last season with a 2nd place finish. Comes just below top 4 this season with an average squad and everyone wants him sacked. Maybe spend like a big club should and than try?

{Ed001's Note - we spent the second most money in Europe in the summer, is that not spending like a big club? Average squad because of his signings.}

19.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 03:37:37
I can almost say they our season is over if Rodgers is still in charge but hey that's almost true 95% of the time since 2 decades ago. Rodgers should go because he has lost the dressing room. A 20 year old leaving not because of money but ambition just show how much LFC has fallen and how much he has on the future of the club. If I was Sterling, I would go. Why blame him? Fans shouldn't be burning his shirt it should be BR. Maybe Sterling is telling FSG something. If my boss sucks, and there's a better boss out there, will I leave? Of course!!!

20.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 03:45:55
Ask whether Klopp would be a possible replacement?

21.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 07:08:22
Thanks Macca. So, the sentiment of many on this page was right all along in that he is a poser and takes the credit when it's going well, but no accountability when things go tits up.

I am not by any means suggesting that Rogers is any better a manager than any others we have hired in the past 20+ years but nor am I suggesting he is any worse. The trophy that means the most because it tells the a story of consistency (and with consistency luck is not so much an ingredient) is the league winners trophy. Folk forget we have not won that for a long long time and we have had a fair few managers all in that time and most of whom have not been given a chance (time wise). I include Rogers here! Then there is the "it can't be just one mans fault" point raised above with which I totally agree. If anyone thinks that ANY manager is going to come in alone and make such a dramatic change in one two or maybe even three years they are deluded. Unfortunately we are behind the likes at least a couple of blue teams in the resources available to us and nowadays the draw for players has become money unfortunately. We are a great club THE GREATEST for me but we therefore have to take alternate approaches to compete. That should include sticking by a manager for at least a decent period.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but it is the manager that makes the difference between winning and not winning, that is why Jose is paid so much.}

23.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 08:30:34
Yeah and then Klopp would come in, be loved by a number of fans during the honeymoon period, fail to win us the league (not because he is not a decent manager but because THIS IS NOT ABOUT ONE MANS INABILITY and has not been for the past 20+ years either) and then be hated by the same fans that loved him and sacked by the owners. I could draw the circular diagram just change the names. Nope! A new strategy, a new approach, a new diagram, is required and part of that ought to be choosing a manager for the long term! That's not the only answer but it is one perennial mistake we and other clubs are making. Imo only Hodgson was a bad manager of those that have failed in the past 20 years!

{Ed001's Note - a new strategy? We have had loads in that time. A new approach? Again been done. A new diagram? What the hell do graphical representations have to do with anything?? The mistake has been picking the wrong manager for the club at the right time, and the right managers at the wrong time. A manager will have his own strategy and approach.}

24.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 08:34:08
Ed - spend includes the wage bill And we do have less at our disposal for that right? I mean it's one thing getting them in through Trf fee but another to keep paying them - the best I mean. And then of course you can only sign what players want to come to you and as a lover of this great club it pains me to say that the appeal for players has dwindled over the pas two decades NOT the past 3 years!

{Ed001's Note - you really shouldn't talk finances, you clearly have not a clue. We have less but still spent more, putting the club deeper in debt to do so. As for players wanting to come to us, well very few players want to sign for Rodgers, which is a major part of the problem. We are still a big club capable of attracting players with desire and ability, it is just that we are picking the wrong ones. We end up buying a whole host of centre backs and attacking midfielders, despite already having too many of each, while leaving the weak areas as they are. That is bad management, by the club as a whole. The manager failed with transfers, so they brought in a committee which has just compounded the failures.}

25.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 08:43:57
I am a firm believer that Jose wouldn't win us the league in one, two, three years! That's also why Jose has ONLY gone to clubs that are at the top of their respective leagues in terms of resource and foundation to win him the league. He's a smart cookie that's for sure but for himself not for the club(s). I really hate to say this but instead talk to me about AF - that man was given a chance after "failing" (well I guess that's what some of us would call it) in the early days! When has one of our recent managers been given that chance?

{Ed001's Note - seriously? That was a completely different situation. When United brought in Fergie they knew it would take him years to change the drinking culture within the club and they backed him to do so. Liverpool have no such problems to fix. The issues we have are down to no tactical acumen and a manager with no man management skills buying more and more players for the strong positions in the club while not plugging the gaps in the squad. This does not compare in any way to United, sadly. If only it did, that would be a much better situation to be in.}

26.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 08:50:26
I disagree with most fans who have replied to this comment.

IMO Rogers deserves another season. DS has been injured all season and what manager could do better with the strikers we have? We are creating chances but struggle in the final third. We need to make a top striker a priority this window.

I know BR has his faults but unless we can get Klopp now, he needs to stay. He was the best manager last season and now we've failed to qualify for the CL he needs to be sacked, come on, We need goals not a new manager.

That's my opinion anyway.

{Ed001's Note - well then he should have bought better strikers, he has had years to buy them and has just accumulated ones he never picks.}

27.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 09:35:24
Ed001. If Rogers is responsible for buying Balotelli then he deserve to be sacked, however I don't believe he wanted him anywhere near the club. Lambert might be different but he was never bought to be a starter.
No body knew DS would miss the majority of the season so unless we can get a better man in that plays a similar style he should get another season.

This season we've lacked goals, we lost the SAS partnership and with a fully fit DS or a top striker up top the team will be a lot more confident.

{Ed001's Note - he had other options but left the club with little choice but to sign Balotelli, as he would not provide another option, after blobking Remy and dithering over Bony.}

28.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 09:58:53
Brendan said he's 150% sure he'll be here next season - Klopp must of turn us down then.

29.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 10:41:06
Ed surely you agree that if we had a striker that scores 20 goals a season plus a fully fit DS, we would of made top four this season at the expense of United.

I don't know who's fault it is bit I believe with the right type of striker next season we will be a lot better.

I hope Rogers stays.

{Ed001's Note - or if Rodgers had actually tried playing one of the many strikers he bought to the club up front, rather than a winger there, we might have done enough too. There are so many ifs and buts it is not worth getting into. The simple fact is that the manager brought in the wrong players, centre back after centre back, a right back, and numerous strikers and attacking midfielders, yet never managed to find a way to get the best out of them. It is a failure in management, both at the very top, in picking him in the first place, and by Rodgers himself, that has cost us the top four this season.}

30.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 10:49:27
Odds slashed on Klopp joining us.

31.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 10:58:08
We have lost so many potential signings because BR can't attract stars unless he wins something which is what he isn't doing. He will continue to let us lose potential targets just like Moyes does. When that happens we will continue to fall into the pecking order or preferred choice of players. BR maybe a good manager if he was in Spurs, West Ham and Aston Villa. He just wasn't made for LFC. This season we were suppose to compete at the top. With all the money, support and resources available to him, he failed miserably.

32.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 11:35:39
Ed an I are going to beg to differ. How anyone not associated with the club would have an idea of the man-management skills of an individual manager I do not know. I do believe though that we should give this guy an opportunity to prove many wrong. I do not know Ed if when he arrived you were one of a few that voiced an opinion that he was not right for the club if you did then you have stood by your convictions and, despite me disagreeing with your points, I respect that. If you wasn't and you once thought him right do you not think such a short tenure is unfair as a judgement change? Let's face it one of those years we did come second, who else recently had done that with this club? (But still not good enough for me only first is a winner and that is the trouble nowadays too many happy with top 4). However, many will come back they will say "coming second was not down to Brendon" and then say "coming 5th (or worse) was TOTALLY down to Brendon" - don't you think the man can't win??? Klopp, Jose, et all would suffer the same fate imo!!!

{Ed002's Note - How many more years would you give him?}

33.) 23 May 2015
23 May 2015 11:53:19
At least a couple. If there are backwards steps after that then I would start to doubt my own convictions. But last year was not all about Suarez by any means - yes the man is a genius but there was heart and belief in many of the squad. A lot of new players changes the make up but they are mostly young and we should see if a second and third year of playing together brings out more. I'm a believer that we should not be recruiting many more but a couple of very decent signings and stick with a group everyone seems to be calling average based on one season playing together. Just my opinion but it is an opinion based on personal experiences of building and/or watching teams and teamwork grow over time. All walks of life can be compared.

{Ed002's Note - For reasons I cannot fathom, Liverpool fans like you are celebrating mediocrity - but boy Liverpool are good at it.}
